Our Key-holder Year….
This is Peter and Fiona’s story – (yes, its fictional, but its been written to show how Key-holder works.)
This could easily be YOU………

October
“Joined the Quayside Club. We wanted a boat for the four of us – not too big or too small – that wasn’t your typical hire boat. The club had just the thing – a 1930’s classic 30-footer. An absolute gem, that you simply wouldn’t find anywhere else. Our induction day was was a really nice day out – the whole family went. The morning was spent with Adam, who took us out and ‘showed us the ropes’. He even explained how to moor and tie up properly. They gave us some tips on environmentally-responsible boating, a buffet lunch, and told us to go off and enjoy the boat – which we did for 3 hours” |

Late October – “Couldn’t wait to get cruising, so we booked a mid-week break in the kids half-term. Brilliant – on our boat we felt like we’d stepped back in time, and people kept coming up to admire it. They all thought we owned it – theres nothing to say otherwise.
Early December – “Weather was amazing, there were still leaves on the trees! Took a snap decision on the Wednesday and phoned to see if the boat was available. It was, so we took a weekend break. |

New Year – “Decided to do things a bit differently this year. Spent new year on the boat – cruised into Norwich and watched an amazing firework display. We were warm and cosy with the central heating and surrounded by all that lovely wood – quite traditional!”
February – “Kids were staying with grandparents so I decided to take Fiona on a Valentines cruise. Love the kids to bits, but it was nice to have a couple of days without them!”
|
|
May – “Took a full week – the first one we’d had. Enjoyed things at a slower pace and really managed to unwind. Starting to fall in love with the Broads.
June – “Spent the weekend with my parents in Ipswich – not too far to drive so we booked the boat just for the day. Fi and me, the kids and the parents out on the water for a full day in total comfort – and all for the price of a day boat! Smart Cruising – I’ll say! |

July – “Booked a half-week as soon as the kids broke up from school – at least that was the intention. Boy was it hot, so much so that we didn’t want to go home. But we were lucky – no-one had booked the boat right after us, so we extended our half-week into a full week.” |
| September – “Got back from our annual holidays in Cyprus at the end of August. Hassle at the airport and a bad flight – and it cost more that our whole years boating! I needed to relax, so we had another half-week just before the new school year. Although we’d got the boat until the Monday morning I had to be back at work then, so we dropped the boat off late Sunday. There was no-one at the yard, but that’s the beauty of the Quayside Club – we just off-loaded, locked up the boat and went home. Easy!” |

|
October – “Signed up for another year with the same boat.
I guess we were able to make better use of our Quayside Club membership than some members, but nevertheless it has to be the most cost-effective way to go boating on the Broads in quality craft.
‘Smart Cruising’? I'll say! |
